Song of My (groan) Self
What makes me weep
And tear my hair?
Gnash my teeth
And scream and swear?
What is the cause
Of such a mess--
Of feeling dumb
And worse distress?
Deliver me from wimpy verbs,
Fragments and elaborate puns.
Save my spirit and my brain
OH, RESCUE ME FROM THESE REVISIONS!
Are any of you cursed with this?
And tear my hair?
Gnash my teeth
And scream and swear?
What is the cause
Of such a mess--
Of feeling dumb
And worse distress?
Deliver me from wimpy verbs,
Fragments and elaborate puns.
Save my spirit and my brain
OH, RESCUE ME FROM THESE REVISIONS!
Are any of you cursed with this?

I empathize, Lynna. My editor emailed me this morning to tell me to expect her editorial notes re: revisions for my NOTORIOUS ROYAL MARRIAGES manuscript next week. It's nonfiction, so I'm expecting queries re: questions of historical fact, rather than her issues with tone or sentence structure, though she told me there were places where she felt a passage needed clarification. Since I had to read so many books to research NRM, I couldn't afford to purchase them all, so I got many from theNew York Public Library system. I'm hoping she doesn't have questions that will necessitate my having to track the books down again from the library because they're rarely on hand immediately.
Hugs, Lynna.
I sympathize. My very first revision read: Wonderful character-driven novel, can you add an external plot. I kid you not.
Deepest sympathies, Lynna! OUCH, Kalen! Groan, Amanda!
I am deep in revisions of my second novel, self-imposed, but agonizing nonetheless. What is it that makes us do this?????
Loved it, Lynna. That's all the comment I can spare as I'm busy with ....revisions.
